Managing with IT - attitudes and approaches workshop

This two-day workshop helps businesses explore their attitudes to IT, and presents a provocative vision of what IT is and can become. This gives businesses a broader range of options from which to choose the most effective use of IT.

Who the course is for

The workshop is intended for anyone responsible for work involving IT.

This includes both business managers, and IT specialists at all levels.

The workshop is suitable as part of a general training programme in IT.

The workshop is particularly suitable as an input to IT strategy, or at the start of a major project.

The workshop assumes no technical knowledge of IT. It is an exploration of attitudes to broaden thinking, and is suitable for an audience with mixed backgrounds in IT.

The workshop is intended to challenge, rather than confirm, conventional views on IT. Participants must be willing to face this challenge and be open to discussion.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how IT adds value.
  • Identify viable uses for IT.
  • Identify when unrealistic expectations of IT will lead to failure.
  • Understand why and how to align to organisational responsibilities.
