What's different about Minimal IT

Minimal IT is not just another IT consultancy. We focus on reducing demand for IT, and providing simple but effective solutions at low cost. Our focus, staffing and ways of working are all aligned to help reduce your IT costs.

At Minimal IT, we see the value that IT could bring being eaten up in excessive and unnecessary costs. We tackle this by asking two questions:

  • How can IT add value?
  • What's the simplest IT solution we need to gain that value?

We then draw on the breadth and depth of our experience to answer these questions and find better and cheaper ways to gain the value.

Many other companies supply hardware, software or development services at low-cost. Minimal IT is different because we help reduce unnecessary demand for IT solutions, not just manage supply. We are complementary to IT supply organisations, and are always happy to work with them.

We see that many practices within the IT industry increase costs. Minimal IT is structured to avoid this.

  • We do not present ourselves as business change experts. We focus on the role, value and provision of IT.
  • We take a "quality, not quantity" approach to staffing, and use only staff who have both the width of understanding to know what is possible, and the depth of understanding to be able to do it.
  • We prefer to work on short assignments, on a fixed-price or shared-risk basis, to avoid the conflict of interests of open-ended contracts.
